NOTE TO EVERYONE: I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SUBMIT DEVIATIONS FOR A WHILE. My profile has a bug where any deviation I upload is NOT showing up in my "newest deviations", nor my "gallery". It just gets lost. It basically becomes an "orphan" link. I've tried contacting the dA staff, but all I've got is the "We're looking into it" drivel. Searching through the bug reports shows a similar bug that hasn't been fixed since JULY. This is really pissing me off.
School's been out for a week. I don't think I did well on my exams, but anxiety can't change anything. Looking forward...
So, not knowing what to expect from it, I signed up to go on a missions trip with my church. To quote my youth leader, "In China, you don't need to travel to far to do a missions trip." Our goal was to build a lasting relationship with the students of the Love and Hope Center. Basically, these are migrant students. (Most of them travel far from home to live and work here.)
The greatest thing about missions trips is that you go in thinking "oh", I'm going to help these people so much! BUT. When you finish the trip, you realize... These people taught me so much more than I've given them! It truly was a moving three days. We ran a youth camp for them, and we all slept two to an average college sized dorm bed. One of them woke up saying it was the best night's sleep he's ever had. This is what usually fits one person!
All of them have seen the most terrible things. One of them was "sucked" on a high voltage electric wire, while his dad decided whether or not he wanted to save him. Another slept outside the doorstep of his house on a cold winters night with barely any clothes on, because his parents weren't home. Most suffered from abuse by alcoholic parents. It really helps when your own troubles are put into perspective; a mere raindrop in this huge ocean of tears and sorrow that we call humanity.
Anyhow, that was the highlight of my holiday, and that's where it goes downhill. I've been sitting at my desk all day, and got addicted to an MMORTS (Astro Empires). It's sucked some of my life in. Then I discovered that my new house was 400m down from a huge bus stop.
I would love to upload photos from my missions trip but I can't because of that bug on my profile. grr.
